It’s November of 2014: you open up Instagram on your iPhone 5, which is about the size and thickness of a pack of playing cards, and you see this:

Snoop Dogg, who burst into fame with his 1993 album Doggystyle and since then has become America’s wacky stoner uncle, stares back at you through his own phone, held in his hand at nearly the same angle you’re holding yours. This is one of a series of multiple β€œMeme” selfies he posted, several of them with this same durag wrapped around his head.
